Talib Kweli is a Hip Hop legend, so I’ve been thinking as I write this, how can I really write anything about this dude? But in this modern day where everyone has as opinon online, here’s mine!

With Talib being a Golden Era vet, I wasn’t sure what to expect with ” Prisoner Of Conscious”, I was happy to hear the music was modern sounding Hip Hop, I’ve found lately a lot of MCs that were big in 90s are really stuck into a certain sound,

All the production on this album is dope, and gels well with Talib Kweli, Talib is a lyrical MC and on occaision I feel he “over raps” a little, but in general he’s dropping bombs on every track throughout “ Prisoner Of Conscious “, and in an era of MC’s who sometimes don’t even rhyme, it’s refreshing!

This album has some dope features, Currency, Kendrick Lamar, Busta Rhymes, and even some unexpected ones like Nelly, who rocks with Kweli on “Before He Walked”. Busta Rhymes rocks with Kweli on “Rocket Ships”, on a RZA produced track, and you can imagine how bananas that is. “Push Through “ featuring Currency, Kendrick Lamar & Glen Reynolds is a dope tune, produced by S1, some features seem a little contrived, but you can feel how these 3 MCs’ want to be together on this record.

Like I said at the start, I wasn’t sure what to expect from this album, but after hearing it, it’s a dope solid album, which I find is a rarity in a singles market, Talib Kweli has served his fans something serious! If you love quality Hip Hop, then this album is for you!
