I’ve always been a fan of Sky’high from the first time I heard her flows via myspace some years back, I remember Belizean Bombshell and myself being really impressed with her appearance on our “Word on The Street” mixtape. It was her raw, I don’t give a fuck attitude and delivery that bought something different for a female MC out of Australia. This debut album has been playing through my car speakers for a week so I’ve had time to digest “Forever Sky’High”. To me Sky’High is a good storyteller, writer and a leading a lady of the Gutter Rap movement.

There are several tracks that take you into the mind of this Sydney sister. “Death Row” is one of them where we get to know her on a personal level. It’s defiantly a personal album where we get to experience the Sky’High journey. Another nice track is “Wake Up”, which features Aotearoa MC David Dallas, a positive joint. The beats on the album vary from rocking, head-knodding to mellow tunes friendly to the ears of OZ Hip Hop fans. There’s a definite audience who can relate to tracks like “Forever Gone” where you find Sky pushing boundaries and addressing the higher side of life. This chick keeps it real and lets you know its time to “Go Hard or Go Home”. If anyone out there doubted Sky then her lyrical drops have to be a reminder that fellow emcees need raise their bars.

Kween G is a member KillaQueenz one of the hottest acts in Australia and their highly energetic live performances have given them a well-deserved reputation as ultimate party rockers. Their debut album “Sistarhood” was released in 2009 and showcased hard hitting rhymes over a fusion of Hip Hop, Reggae, and Dance music with the lead single “Double Up” receiving support across the globe. After collaborating with the likes of Katalyst, Fretless and more Kween G is currently working on her untitled debut album out later this year.
