“If Sydney had a soul, what would it look like?” It would look like 20+ Australian artists & musicians from all the genres and sub-genres of Soul/Urban music coming together to launch the Oz Soul Collective Showcase at Tone on the Sunday 3rd of April 2011.
Australia does not know that the Soul/Urban music scene exists here. Australia does not know there are hun- dreds of quality Soul/Urban artists all over the country. Internationally, the Australian Soul/Urban scene is merely a blip. Enter the Oz Soul Collective.
The Oz Soul Collective is Australia’s Official Non-Profit Soul / Urban Music Development Initiative. It is a network of passionate artists, musicians and industry professionals creating a movement in the Australian music industry. The Oz Soul Collective is dedicated to creating awareness, cultivating, showcasing, marketing and promoting Australia’s independent, signed and unsigned artists from all fusions of Soul – Nu Soul, R&B, Jazz, Electronic, Blues, Funk, Reggae and Hip Hop nationally & internationally. WE HAVE OZ SOUL.
From a successful run of showcases since its inception last year in Melbourne, it is now a reputable platform for local and national artists to perform their original music to sold out crowds and has been strengthening the scene through community. The Oz Soul Collective coming to Sydney marks significant industry opportunity for development and support.
With an incredible line up of the most prolific acts hailing from Sydney, Melbourne, U.S and the U.K, over 20 acts locked in to kick off what will mark the beginning of a massive change for soul music in this city.
