Astral People, in conjunction with Vice & Noisey, are proud to announce a triple-hit musical calamity as New York’s finest underdog, ACTION BRONSON makes his debut Sydney appearance alongside the return of Stones Throw Records boss PEANUT BUTTER WOLF and Australian hero JONTI.
ACTION BRONSON
Born in Queens, New York, Action Bronson developed a passion for food at a young age, around the same time as his taken interest for east-coast Hip Hop.
A foray into wishful-gangster fantasies, Bronson’s lyrical style and worldly production makes him one of the most anticipated newcomers to the hip-hop scene. In 2012, his mixtape ‘Blue Chips’, produced by Party Supplies, was released on Fools Gold Records to acclaim from as many major publicatons and underground watchdogs.
Bronson’s forthcoming album ‘Rare Chandeliers’ (produced by The Alchemist) is hotly tipped to be the crossover hit of the summer. Touring Australia for the very first time since his meteoric rise to fame, expect one of the most enigmatic (if only) chef/rappers in the game to provide one of the years freshest hip hop experience.
PEANUT BUTTER WOLF
Founding Stones Throw Records in 1997, Peanut Butter Wolf fulfilled a lifelong dream to release music he found relevant whilst paying homage to lost friends. From J Dilla, Madlib and Gary Wilson to new-faces like Dâm-Funk, Aloe Blacc, and Mayer Hawthorne, Stones Throw Records is accountable for not just a globally acclaimed output, but a genre-changing epicentre built by one Peanut Butter Wolf.
Wolf ‘s instrumental solo work and incredible musical knowledge is the centrepiece of a party-starting Audio/Visual spectacular, coming to Australia after appearing at the likes of Coachella, Lollapalooza, Eagle Rock and even Comic-Con.
JONTI
Multi-instrumentalist, arranger, producer, and vocalist, JONTI began assembling music after his departure from South Africa to Australia. Jonti has now recorded with Mark Ronson, Santigold, Hodgy Beats (OFWGKTA) and producer John Agnello (Sonic Youth, Dinosaur Jr, Kurt Vile). With a debut album ‘Twirligig’ signed to the aforementioned Stones Throw Records, Jonti was chosen by Gotye to accompany him as a support act throughout his 2012 tour of the USA and Europe.
Sydney DJ and Redbull Threestyle finalist MIKE WHO? will also be warming the stage following a year long trip to South America. Prepare to open your eyes and ears.
