\nLatinaotearoa \u2013 The South American flavored \u2013 New Zealand based group have just released their debut album ‘Sonido de Latinaotearoa’. <\/strong><\/p>\n

\u2018Sonido de Latinaotearoa\u2019 brings a unique blend of Latin vibes all mixed in with elements of house, soul, jazz, bossa nova, salsa, reggae and hip-hop. Latinaotearoa is the fusion of Chilean born Dj Bobby Brazuka, Venezuelan vocalist Jennifer Zea and New Zealand producer and band heavy-weight Issac Aesili. All three members of the group definitely bring their own distinctive flavors and touches to each track.<\/p>\n

From the first track \u2018Pina Colada\u2019, the group makes the vibe very clear, as each track continually swallows you into their Latino escapade. Issac Aesili\u2019s percussion is unquestionably the dominant force of the album. Sultry rhythms and salsa inducing beats are some of the most enjoyable features of this debut.<\/p>\n

Each song has been produced to cater for each member\u2019s involvement on every track. The rhythms have a calling for more and more layers of sound and involvement. As each track builds up on itself, your groove settles right into its drum pattern … then just when you believe you\u2019ve come to the enduring sound of the track, Zea\u2019s vocals slide in so comfortably you wonder how you we\u2019re listening without them. <\/p>\n

It is a wonder that these sounds come out of New Zealand \u2013 upon first impression you could swear that a sound this natural and organic must come from some South American group well into their career. Originally crafted as a live band, once you\u2019ve finished your first seating of \u2018Sonido de Latinaotearoa\u2019 you can understand the need to record these gems, yet you can appreciate that these are sounds best served live. <\/p>\n

Notable tracks include be the salsa heavy \u2018Oye Como Suenan\u2019, the reggae infused \u2018Something About You\u2019, the Spanish cover of Ladi 6\u2019s \u2018Walk Right Up\u2019 and my personal favorite \u2018Aldaia de Ogum\u2019.<\/p>\n

Definitely something interesting for the collection \u2013 Latinaotearoa serve up an all round enjoyable debut. Looking forward to hearing more from the trio. <\/p>\n
