Growing up in the Housing commissions of Maroubra and Ultimo in Sydney Sky was raised in an alcoholic, drug and domestic violence environment, while admitting her upbringing was both dangerous and depressing in these surroundings she saw music as an escape and a positive outlet to express her feelings.<\/p>\n

With her mother working in clubs\/pubs ever since she was a child Sky was surrounded by music and listened to a steady diet of Funk, Reggae and Rock music growing up. At the age of 9 she discovered Hip Hop after hearing Left Eye on TLC\u2019s debut \u201cOoh On The TLC Tip\u201d and was hooked. By 15 she put pen to paper writing her first rhymes and at 22 started to take rapping seriously and stayed away from hustling on the streets to dedicate herself to the art form.<\/p>\n

Her influences range from Mariah Carey, Jay-Z, Curtiz Mayfield, Grace Jones, Silverchair, Something for Kate, Shawnna, La Chat, Three 6 Mafia, Talib Kweli and many more.
