SARAH CONNOR \u2013 Hilltop Hoods Initiave Award winner<\/strong>
\nHip hop artist and writer from Sydney\u2019s Inner West. Sarah Connor is all about making the impossible possible. Bringing you fresh, inspiring and insightful music, Sarah Connor\u2019s spitfire and intense lyricism brings new blood to the table. Currently setting fires in the studio with DJ Maniak (Terminal Illness) and The Digital Assassin (Scotty B \u2013 frmly Blades Of Hades). This release is going to be a force to be reckoned with. KWEEN G<\/strong>
\nKween G (Kibone) was born in Uganda, East Africa . Kween G\u2019s father sought political asylum in Australia and when Kween G was 4 years old, the family emigrated to Sydney. Attending primary and high school in Australia, Kween G was raised on a steady diet of African music and Reggae, but growing up with three older brothers she was introduced to the culture that would captivate her for life: Hip Hop.<\/p>\n

Kween G toured extensively throughout Australia on the festival and club circuit with her original Hip Hop duo Killaqueenz, and released the album Sistarhood through Central Station Records in 2009. Sistarhood features high profile local artists such as Spit Syndicate, Ru C.L., Vida Sunshyne, Lady Chann from London and Buff1 from Detroit. KillaQueenz were the first female duo in Australia to showcase hard-hitting rhymes over a fusion of Hip Hop, Reggae, Dance and Bass music. Their beats were produced by Australian artists, Katalyst and M-Phazes and South Rakkas Crew known for their work with Diplo and Mad Decent.<\/p>\n

In 2010, Marrickville Council voted her Young Citizen of the Year, a prestigious honour that rewarded the essential community work that Kween G undertakes. Kween G regularly participates in workshops with Beyond Empathy, an NGO that uses arts genres such as film, digital and mixed media, theatre, music, dance and visual arts to build relationships between inter-generationally disadvantaged young people, local support agency staff and the local community in 13 locations across Australia.<\/p>\n

Working as a solo artist, Kween G has maintained a high level of community engagement with young Indigenous teenage girls from Warramangu country in Tennant Creek, Northern Territory. She made yearly visits with the NGO, Beyond Empathy and then with Barkly Regional Arts she facilitated their 2013 Lady Beats project. LADY BEATS was a twelve-week project focusing on girls in Tennant Creek, providing them with skills in singing, lyric writing, recording and performance. Kween G was hired as the trainer and mentor for the twelve-week period, working with the girls on a daily basis to build their technique and skills.<\/p>\n

MS HENNESSEY<\/strong>
\nDJ Ms Hennessey has been holding court as a respected and celebrated female hip hop soul DJ in Australia for the past 10 years, holding down a 9 year residency at the internationally recognised and famed old school hip hop nightclub Red Room, in Sydney Australia.<\/p>\n

She has recently added to her roster by spinning in the funky inner city suburb of Newtown at the iconic Zanzibar with the Funk-Ink DJ Agency.<\/p>\n

Ms Hennessey can also be also be heard on The Edge 96.1FM \u201cDirty Dozen\u201d radio show every Tuesday night with host Kay-Sera from 8-10pm as she presents her \u2018Ms Hennessey Speaks Blog\u2019 segment.<\/p>\n

Representing the ladies of Hip Hop Soul, DJ MS Hennessey is Sydney\u2019s Original Spinsister.<\/p>\n

STAYFLY SYDNEY<\/strong>
\nStayfly Sydney is a new community of passionate women who are defining the girls\u2019 corner of the urban movement.<\/p>\n

With a battalion of fierce, edgy and fun street artists, dancers, photographers, DJs, singers and MCs on their side, they are fast gaining a reputation for throwing a party like no other. With an ethos fostering creativity, collaboration and friendship, Stayfly Sydney have found themselves at the forefront of cool in Sydney\u2019s street scene, able to kick off the night you won\u2019t forget.<\/p>\n

In the past two years Stayfly Sydney has extended its range of artists and musicians that participate to the events that the collective organises or joins and it has presented some great collaborations featuring Sydney\u2019s and also international artists.<\/p>\n

Stayfly was launched with a block party at the Ambush Gallery in 2013
\nFollowed by multiple music events showcasing local Sydney rappers and soul singers and with the same rhythm has brought to the table some incredibly fulfilled art exhibitions where the talents of the girls involved were in spotlight.<\/p>\n

With the help and support of Redfern Community Centre and Redfern Settlement Youth Centre Stayfly conducted a series of spray painting workshops and spoken rap and poetry motivational workshops with indigenous and resident kids from the Redfern area.<\/p>\n
