Although Elzhi has been around for ages (check Slum Village and other guest / solo work), he has really smashed it this year on the back of his crazy reworking of Nas’s classic debut LP: Illmatic. Titled ‘Elmatic’, this joint has both hip-hop heads and newbies going bonkers, and when he stopped by at Tone on Sunday, September 11, 2011, he gave a packed house everything and a little more.
Supported by the Big Village crew, and with local son Ology as his DJ, Elzhi was on top of his game, spitting writtens and freestyles on top of some classic beats as well as a host of underground heatrocks.
