MTV networks in the U.S. have debuted David Dallas’ new music video for “Take A Picture” this week, broadcasting the New Zealand Hip Hop star’s music to millions of MTV viewers across the States.
“Take A Picture” is the second single from David Dallas’ new album ‘The Rose Tint’. Made available for free download from his website on May 12th this year, the album has already reached a staggering 42,000 full album downloads. MTV have chosen Dallas’ Take A Picture as their video of the week, and will broadcast it at the top of every hour across their MTV U channel as well as playing across their additional MTV stations – an unparalleled achievement for a New Zealand artist on American music television.
The “Take A Picture” music video was overseen by local design wizards Special Problems. The Auckland based design house collaborated with seven different directors and animators, who each interpreted a different part of the song. Each director created their scene through a different medium (16mm film, VHS, Stop Motion, 3d Animation etc.) and none were allowed to know what each other was working on. The result was a series of beautiful, very different moments pieced together to make the video.
