Sky’High has an unmistakable delivery and style all of her own which has generated a buzz throughout the Australian Hip Hop community and earned respect from her peers. After bubbling under the radar for the last couple of years through youtube, internet forums and mixtapes she is finally ready to make a mark in her own distinct way.

Growing up in the Housing commissions of Maroubra and Ultimo in Sydney Sky was raised in an alcoholic, drug and domestic violence environment, while admitting her upbringing was both dangerous and depressing in these surroundings she saw music as an escape and a positive outlet to express her feelings.

With her mother working in clubs/pubs ever since she was a child Sky was surrounded by music and listened to a steady diet of Funk, Reggae and Rock music growing up. At the age of 9 she discovered Hip Hop after hearing Left Eye on TLC’s debut “Ooh On The TLC Tip” and was hooked. By 15 she put pen to paper writing her first rhymes and at 22 started to take rapping seriously and stayed away from hustling on the streets to dedicate herself to the art form.

Her influences range from Mariah Carey, Jay-Z, Curtiz Mayfield, Grace Jones, Silverchair, Something for Kate, Shawnna, La Chat, Three 6 Mafia, Talib Kweli and many more. Whether making beats or on the mic Sky’s experiences in life give her a unique story to tell which relate to a wide audience across Australia who are already fans of her work voting her best female MC at this years ozhiphop.com awards.
